About Chef Alice Gonzalez

1170x660chefChef Alice Gonzalez's personal food philosophy is "being true to yourself and evoking feeling through food," says the staff at Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa.

For the past 9 years Chef Gonzalez has traveled the world and worked with some of the country's best chefs in Michelin-star restaurants. After her initial culinary education at Johnson & Whales University, in Providence, Rhode Island, where she graduated with honors, Chef Gonzalez continued her education working in different cities throughout the United States and the United Kingdom.

Chef Gonzalez worked abroad at Cliveden Hotel west of London at the Michelin-star Waldo's restaurant under the French chef Daniel Gamiché. Upon her return to the states, she worked under Chef Todd English at the original Olives restaurant in Charlestown, MA. After a brief stint working in Miami hot spots, she relocated to Chicago and worked in a tiny little restaurant called Alinea. After two years under Chefs Grant Achatz and Dave Beran, where she started a journey towards the continuous search of her own perfection, she left to become the sous chef at the Michelin-star restaurant North Pond. After a year there Chef Achatz asked Chef Gonzalez to return to Alinea and Next restaurant in a larger chef role.

Just prior to joining Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa's culinary team in May 2015, Chef Gonzalez was the Executive Sous Chef at Morimoto Napa under TFL alum Chef Kang Kaun.

When not in the kitchen, Chef Gonzalez likes to raise chickens, forage, garden and enjoys art and nature with her husband.
