While not as racy as some of the tunes on the radio today, the song made it clear that Mary Hill did what she wanted without worrying about what other people thought. At that age I had more fun playing football outside with the boys rather than inside playing Barbies with the girls, so it’s little wonder that I identified with the lyrics.

Walla Walla WOW – L’Ecole No. 41 2008 Estate Luminesce
L’Ecole No. 41 takes its name from the historic Frenchtown schoolhouse that houses the winery. Every wine in their portfolio we tasted is good, and it’s no wonder they’ve been named Winery of the Year eight times by Wine & Spirits. If all Washington State wines taste like these, we can’t wait to get to Walla Walla.

This beautiful small lot Syrah is opaque, an inky purple with gorgeous ripe fruit. Blueberries, blackberries and rich baking spices on the nose, reminded Joe of a succulent pie. Once in the mouth, we tasted more of the blackberry and blueberry flavors, brown sugar and cloves, with a nice toasty oak on a finish that ended in gobs of fruit, spice, vanilla and velvety tannins.
